Rangers fans will surely be in awe of Steven Gerrard’s perseverance in the hunt to sign Ryan Kent after it was reported that the Ibrox boss is yet to give up on bagging the Liverpool winger.

Kent, 22, has been in great form for the Light Blues this season after joining the Glasgow giants on loan in the summer.

He has scored six goals and supplied nine assists in 38 appearances across all competitions for the Gers and is a solid contender for the Ibrox club’s player of the season award.

As much as Rangers fans would surely love to see Kent sign on a permanent basis, a report by the Liverpool Echo has claimed that Liverpool want over £12million for the jet-heeled attacker.

Rangers have not spent anywhere near that much money since their financial meltdown in 2012 and their club record signing of Tore Andre Flo for £12million was made all the way back in 2000.

It seems like it would take another record swoop to sign Kent, but an update by the Glasgow Evening Times has suggested that Gerrard remains keen on signing the winger despite Liverpool’s huge valuation.

The newspaper has reported that Rangers are no longer interested in signing Jake Hastie from Motherwell as the Ibrox boss eyes up the signing of Kent.

It would be an amazing piece of business by the Light Blues if they were to sign the 22-year-old, and one that would certainly strike fear into the hearts of rivals Celtic after he impressed against them in the Old Firm on Sunday.

While it might take a lot of negotiating to sign Kent, Rangers fans should be happy to know that there is still a slight chance that their club can strike a deal and sign the winger in the summer.
