Liverpool and Arsenal are both in the hunt for unsettled Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler, according to Don Balon.

The Spanish outlet claims that the two top four outfits are keen on the 49-cap German international, who has become disengaged by life in the French capital.

The 25-year-old is tired of living in the shadows of superstars Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, and could become part of a summer exodus from Thomas Tuchel’s side as a result.

A number of players are thought to want to leave PSG due to the club’s continued failure in Europe, with Draxler appearing to be chief among them.

OPINION

This is a bit of an interesting one, isn’t it? Draxler has had a strange career. He was always expected to move to a European giant when he was at Schalke, but eventually merely moved across to Wolfsburg. He would go on to get his big move to PSG, but it hasn’t quite worked out in France for him. He’s done well, there’s no doubt about that. But he hasn’t pulled up the amount of trees everyone expected him to just a few years ago. So would he still be a good fit at Liverpool? He’s certainly a tremendous player, blessed with remarkable technical ability. He has good pace and is still young enough to make huge progress in the years to come. But would he be a regular starter? He wouldn’t get in ahead of the team’s front three, so he’d have to take up a role in the midfield. Perhaps he could then serve as the creative element that Jurgen Klopp’s side have missed at times this season. Overall, then, as long as Liverpool don’t pay over the odds then Draxler could be just what they need.
