Pat Nevin heaped praise on Liverpool attacker Ryan Kent after he impressed while featuring for Rangers against Celtic on Sunday.

The BBC pundit shared that he thought the 22-year-old winger was one of the most talented members of the Gers squad as he tends to pose a danger.

Nevin added that Kent deserves his goal during Ranger’s 2-1 loss to Celtic due to his work rate during the match and highlighted how he didn’t panic when through on goal.

“He is one of the most talented members of Rangers’ squad, he’s one who poses a danger,” said Nevin on BBC Radio 5 Live (Sunday March 31st, 13:41).

“He hasn’t got lightning pace, he’s quick enough, but he’s an intelligent player and kept his head.

“In that moment of time (his goal) there was plenty to do when on the ball, but he got past Boyata and he has Bain in front of him and he does not panic, sticks it past Bain.

“He deserves it for his work rate.”

OPINION

Nevin may not think Kent has blistering pace but clearly he believes the 21-year-old is talented. The Liverpool loanee is getting plenty of playing time under Steven Gerrard at Ibrox and will return to Anfield a better player in the summer. The only question is whether he is still good enough for the Reds. While Kent is doing fantastic things in Scotland, that doesn’t mean he’ll be a force in England’s top-flight. Given this it wouldn’t be a surprise if the winger is either sold by the Reds in order to capitalise on his good form, or loaned out to an English club to see how he fares. It would be harsh for Liverpool to chuck Kent out the door, given he has made the most of his loan spell, but football is a harsh world and they have got to do what’s best for the club. Although a permanent move to the Gers may not just suit the Reds but may benefit Kent in the long-run, as he does appear happy at Ibrox.
