OPINION
Daniel Sturridge will always been fondly remembered amongst Liverpool supporters for the excellent form he showed in the 2013/14 season, when him and Luis Suarez combined excellently and nearly pushed to the Liverpool the Premier League title. However, he has been something of a peripheral figure at Anfield this season, with his start against Huddersfield Town on Friday night just his 18th appearance in the Premier League this season. The England international has had to settle for a place on the bench for most of the campaign, with Jurgen Klopp, rightly, preferring to select the dynamic front three of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. Sturridge has even at times this season seen himself be overlooked for Divock Origi when Klopp has been looking for a change to potentially alter the outcome of a game. The former Chelsea and Manchester City striker was denied a goal by the linesman’s flag early in the second period, before leaving the field in the place of Xherdan Shaqiri in the 72nd minute. There is the possibility that Sturridge could depart Anfield this summer, if that is to be the case he will be keen to sign off in style by contributing towards a successful title bid. However, he will need to show a little more than he did in Liverpool’s clash with Huddersfield, where he was largely, as he has been nearly all season on the periphery.

If Firmino was properly injured right now I'd rather play Mane or Salah through the middle. No disrespect to Sturridge but I wouldn't mind seeing us add a back up striker in the summer

Love Sturridge but his time is up. Injuries really killed his career.

Sad to see how poor Sturridge has become. Was on track to become one of the best forwards in the world but injuries have just ruined him, it’s really too bad. He doesn’t even look like a championship player

Sturridge will hopefully be subbed out of the game so he can receive what will likely be his final Anfield ovation.

Bit of a shame. For one season Daniel Sturridge was a world-class player.
