Liverpool’s U23 goalkeeping coach Mark Morris has hailed Alisson Becker’s attitude towards the younger goalkeepers at the club.

Since his arrival in the summer from Roma, Alisson has secured his place as Liverpool’s number one man between the sticks, whilst becoming a real fan favourite in the process.

It also seems like the 26-year old has been a real help for the younger players at the club too, evolving from a new face into a club role model in the year he’s been at Anfield.

“I work with the goalkeepers from U9s to U23s. We have trial days and the kids come in with the Alisson tops on. It’s certainly nice to see.” said Morris, speaking to Liverpool FC.

“He’s one of the best in the world, so you can’t help but look up to the guy.

“The way we work at the Academy, we try to use our own players as examples. Not only is he a good goalkeeper, he’s a humble person as well.”

OPINION

In the modern era of football, it’s easy for players to get carried away with their price tags and egos, however there are always going to be those players who are more than just a name on a team sheet. Alisson has been surreal for Liverpool this season, and is one of the main reasons that they are in the position that they are as the season comes to a close. Although Alisson himself is still pretty young, especially in goalkeeper terms, it seems his arrival at the club has been a brilliant decision, even with regards to his effect on the Liverpool youth system. As one of the best goalkeepers in the league, if not the world, Alisson is certainly a brilliant player for the young Reds to look up to, and it seems he has the top class personality to match his immense footballing ability. There is no doubt that the Brazilian will be helping the younger generation at the club for years to come and it’s good to hear a backroom figure believe he’s on course to do that.
