Liverpool have rejected approaches from a number of Premier League and oversea’s clubs for academy star Rhian Brewster, according to Football Insider.

The reputable football news outlet claim that the club have knocked back interest with the view to promote Brewster, 19, to the first team squad next season.

Jurgen Klopp is rumoured to admire the English forward and would like to use him as back up for his prolific front three in seasons to come at Anfield.

Brewster scored 20 goals in 23 appearances for England Under-17s and has recently returned from almost a year out after suffering serious ankle and knee injuries.

OPINION

Keeping Rhian Brewster at the club must be a top priority for all involved at Liverpool. The young centre forward has it all, not only can he score but his record in assisting his teammates is outstanding too. Before his injury last year, Brewster was involved in 13 goals in 15 games, seven of those coming in the way of assists. Not to mention his international record, Brewster won the golden boot when leading the Under-17s to glory in 2017. Long term injuries are always frustrating and it can knock any player off his game when returning, the 19-year-old made a great return and showed his surgery had no repercussions when scoring in his return against Leicester last week for the Under-23s. Keeping Brewster will be a great piece of business by Klopp with Daniel Sturridge coming towards the end of his career, it will be the perfect opportunity to introduce the youngster in to the first team picture and get minutes replacing the likes of Mohamed Salah come next season.
