Andy Robertson reflected on the 2018/19 Premier League season after Liverpool fell just short of the title on the final day.

The 25-year old was involved in the Reds team which defeated Wolves on the final day at Anfield, however the result was not enough to beat City to the title.

The Scotland international has reflected on an impressive season with Liverpool, as the final day of the Premier League season came to a close.

“It’s one of them, 97 points – if anyone offered us that at the start of the season I think everyone would’ve took it,” said Robertson, as quoted by Liverpool’s official website.

“We’ve come up against an incredible team and for us to get that close, it just shows you how far we’ve come.

“We’ve not done much wrong, but we’ll learn from it. We’ve still got a massive game coming up and then we can focus on next season.”

OPINION

Robertson has been one of the stand-out performers for the Reds this season, and has registered 11 assists in the process, which is certainly an impressive figure for a player who’s primary use is to defend. However, he seems to have hit the nail on the head here with regards to Liverpool’s season, and how they came so close, yet still so far from being Premier League champions. Liverpool did next to nothing wrong throughout the whole of this years Premier League campaign, apart from their only defeat which came at the hand of the eventual champions Manchester City. As a club, as the 25-year old explained, Liverpool have come so far. They have managed to come second behind Pep Guardiola’s Man City in the Premier League, with a grand total of 97 points, and also have a European final to look forward to in the Champions League. The Reds are leaps and bounds ahead of what they were last season, and only seem to be on the up, so there will be more good times ahead for the Liverpool faithful for sure.
