Sadio Mane and Mo Salah were awarded with the Premier League Golden Boot award for the 2018/19 season after Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Wolves but Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s seasons should not be forgotten.

The duo ended the season on 22 goals a piece, along with Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who also managed the same amount of goals as the dynamic Liverpool pair. (Source: BBC)

Mane was two goals short of Salah before the final fixtures of the season kicked off, but finished level with his fellow club man after scoring an impressive brace at Anfield against Wolves.

However, the two players will be the first to say that they could not have won the accolade alone, and it has been the impressive performances of the two Liverpool full-backs that have been a stand-out throughout the majority of this Premier League campaign.

Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been raking in the assists this season for Liverpool, providing week-in, week-out for the club’s strikers.

Robertson has 11 assists this season in the Premier League (Source: Transfermrkt), and was equal with Alexander-Arnold until the 20-year old added to his tally on the final day, providing the pass for Mane’s first goal of the game.

All season, the defensive pair have been making those trademark bursting runs forward from the back, and sending passes into the opposition box which have resulted in important goals for the Reds.

Ultimately, the pair have been the main providers for both Salah and Mane this season, and have played a significant part in their recent Golden Boot accolade win.

If it weren’t for the impressive attacking performances of the two full-backs, Salah and Mane may have missed out on the Golden Boot award come the end of the season, but fortunately for them the two wing-backs have been more than willing to put it on a plate for them, week after week.
