BBC Sport duo Dion Dublin and Kevin Kilbane have heaped praise on Liverpool’s two full backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson.

The two players have been absolutely magnificent all season long, racking up assist after assist this campaign, with the former adding to his collection in the 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

Dublin is a big fan: “If I was playing with Robertson and Trent Alexander[-Arnold], I’d score double figures at 50 years old,” he said on Final Score. “I’d still score double figures, their quality is that good!”

Kilbane concurred: “The consistency of Trent Alexander-Arnold, given his age, and the consistency of the cross, every single time it’s on the money. He’s got that great technique, putting the ball into a dangerous area – incredible. And he’s also got great teeth as well!”

OPINION

They’re joking a bit here, Dublin and Kilbane, but the message they’re sending is absolutely spot on. Alexander-Arnold and Robertson are undoubtedly the finest full back tandem in world football, can there be any doubt of that after this season? The local lad was absolutely superb in the victory over Wolves on Sunday, rampaging forward and making the difference for both of the Reds’ goals. What sets these two apart from other full back double acts is how well-rounded they are. They are excellent in every single category, both offensively and defensively. Their crossing is out of this world, their intelligence second to none – as showcased by Alexander-Arnold’s ingenuity against Barcelona on Tuesday – and they’re both only going to get better. To be honest, the way they’ve played this campaign, Dublin might actually bag double figures in this Liverpool team! Credit to both of them for two phenomenal seasons… now onto Madrid.
