Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could face a difficult decision during the summer transfer window over the potential future of both Harry Wilson and Ryan Kent.

The pair both spent time away from Anfield this season, with Wilson spending the season at Frank Lampard’s Derby County in the Championship and Kent spending the campaign with Rangers in the SPFL.

Wilson has been a very crucial part of Derby’s squad this season, with the attacker scoring 16 goals and registering four assists helping the Rams reach the Championship play-off final where they face Aston Villa, while the 22-year-old also scored a memorable free-kick at Old Trafford as Derby beat Manchester United in the Carabao Cup.

Kent meanwhile has also had impressive season with Steven Gerrard’s Rangers, with the attacker contributing six goals and providing a further four assists for the Scottish club this season.

The pair will return to Anfield this summer full of confidence given their respective performances out on loan over the course of the season, but will both be used to playing regular first team football, which could mean that neither will be content with playing secondary roles behind Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in Liverpool’s squad next season.

That means that Klopp will be needing to find a way of making them both happy, which could either be giving them game time in the cup competitions or allowing them seek another move away from the club this summer.

Wilson is reportedly being linked with a permanent switch to Derby, but that could depend on whether Lampard’s side can win the Championship play-off final and secure promotion to the Premier League, if they do it is thought that the Reds could include a buy back clause in the similar one negotiated with Bournemouth for Jordon Ibe, according to The Times.

Kent’s situation is a little more unclear and Klopp will be needing to make a decision over whether the attacker can earn a place in his first team plans, or if he can be allowed to leave to continue his career progression elsewhere.

Both Kent and Wilson will be hopeful that they have impressed enough out on loan to be considered by Klopp, but will also hope that if they are not going to be given game time they will be allowed to leave the club.
