Liverpool should swoop for Berardi

Looking at Liverpool’s squad this season, there’s probably not too much that you would immediately look to improve upon.

Sure, they missed out on the Premier League title, but realistically that was because of the monstrous quality of their nearest rivals as opposed to anything they did wrong.

One loss all league campaign is some record, and to be pipped at the post by a Manchester City side of this level is nothing shameful.

If Jurgen Klopp is being super critical, however, then he will probably concede that he needs to bring in a little more strength in depth.

There were a couple of games around the turn of the year in which the Reds looked a little bit turgid, and the option to freshen things up in the attacking third wouldn’t have gone amiss.

Liverpool still didn’t lose those matches, of course, but they did drop points in a season when just one more win would have seen them over the line.

Another striker, then, could be a tidy investment, and one in particular seems keen to throw himself at the Reds.

Sassuolo hitman Domenico Berardi has hit seven goals and assisted four more for the Serie A outfit this season, and is supposedly being tracked by the likes of Juventus, Roma, and Inter.

If the choice was his, however, Berardi would be making the switch to Anfield this summer.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, as quoted by Goal, he said: “If an offer arrives, be it from Milan or another club, I will evaluate it with my club.

“And if I hear that it is the right proposal, to be taken on the fly, this time I will say to Sassuolo: ‘I’ll take it.’

“Being able to choose, I would play in Liverpool. Changing remains difficult for me, but it no longer frightens me, I would do it.”

The 24-year-old may not be the most prolific of strikers, but he shows good potential, and as far as an impact sub designed to change the tide of a game goes, he could be a very decent option indeed.

Klopp should make his Kop dream come true.
