Liverpool attacker Roberto Firmino has taken to social media to give fans an update on his recovery from injury with photos from fitness training whilst on holiday.

The 27-year old missed the end of the Premier League season due to injury, but it’s now looking likely that he could be back to full fitness ahead in time for Liverpool’s Champions League final with Spurs.

The £180,000-per week man (Source: Spotrac) was unable to play the final five games of the season after having an adductor problem during training in April.

In a story posted on his personal Instagram account, the Brazilian provided an  update on his fitness by showing himself undergoing some warm weather training whilst on holiday, and the pictures below were tied together by the Liverpool Echo.

OPINION

This is certainly a reason to smile for Liverpool fans, and the return of Firmino would definitely give the Reds a better chance at glory in the Champions League. The 27-year old was absent in Liverpool’s last European outing against Barcelona, however the Reds still managed to do the impossible and overturn the result when they brought the Spanish side to Anfield. All things considered, it could be argued that Liverpool would be fine, and could cope against Spurs in the final with or without their star man up front. However, he will be trying everything to make sure that he is fully fit for the fixture, and it’s looking like Jurgen Klopp may be left with a tough decision on who to start in the final, after Divock Origi impressively stepped up to the plate in the semi-final against Barcelona. The Liverpool manager would surely rather have the option however, and this is looking more and more likely as Firmino continues to recover.
