Jurgen Klopp has urged his Liverpool side to concentrate on their crucial final day title decider against Wolves, after their dramatic Champions League comeback against Barcelona.

The German masterminded Liverpool’s remarkable 4-0 second leg win against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals, which saw the Reds overturn a 3-0 first leg defeat, to qualify for the Champions League final.

Klopp now though wants his side to re-focus and prepare for their game against Wolves, with a win potentially enough to secure his side the Premier League title, depending on Manchester City’s result against Brighton.

“It’s been a week of, I am not sure of miracles, but big football moments,” Klopp said, as quoted by BBC Sport.

“But from our point of view it could be a big football moment on the weekend, the week is not over yet.

“I think most people expected me to sit here today and say ‘OK, after not being in the Champions League final, it’s difficult to be champions’. Well now we are in the final and it is still difficult.”

He added: “It doesn’t make Tuesday night’s achievement any smaller. It was for sure one of the best moments in football history, not only Liverpool. But it has nothing to do with the weekend except that we should be confident.”

OPINION

Klopp is right to attempt to get his players to re-focus their attentions on their game against Wolves on Sunday, with a win potentially enough to secure Liverpool the Premier League title. However, that maybe easier said than done after the dramatic events of Tuesday’s second leg against Barcelona. The German will be hoping that his side can re-find the spirit they showed on Tuesday, with Manchester City the team in the driving seat on the final day of the season knowing they only need to beat Brighton to retain the title. Liverpool’s players and supporters will need that same belief that they can secure the title against the odds on Sunday, and with the pressure all on Pep Guardiola’s City side, the Reds could maybe produce two unlikely triumphs within the same week. Whatever happens on the final day it has been an excellent season from Liverpool, with Klopp’s side pushing Manchester City all the way to the final day of the season in the title race, and also qualifying for the Champions League final for the second successive season.
