OPINION

For a lucky minority, June 1st could be the greatest night of their lives. Those Liverpool supporters fortunate enough to have secured a ticket for the Wanda Metropolitano could well see their side lift a sixth European Cup crown in the club’s history, but for the rest of the Reds’ fans, scattered across the globe, other viewing methods will have to be devised. Certainly, nobody will want to watch it alone, and for the Kopites left back in their home city without a ticket, recreating an atmosphere as close to the uniquely electric one over in Spain will be a high priority. Many will have wanted Anfield to open its doors to fans on the night, but instead, the club have confirmed that they will be providing 11,500 tickets for fans to watch the match in the M&S Bank Arena, as reported by James Pearce of the Echo. Those that missed out on a ticket will be given first priority when they go on sale. For some, that is brilliant news, but there are a fair few supporters who aren’t happy with the announcement. Some feel that it is further monetisation of their team’s success, while others are baffled about what they are meant to do with the flights they have booked to Spain. All in all, the club could have handled this one better.
