Liverpool should look to cash in on Marko Grujic after the midfielder endured a successful loan spell this season with Hertha Berlin.

Grujic played his football with the Berlin club for the duration of this season, scoring five goals and registering a single Bundesliga assist in the process.

Hertha Berlin general manager Michael Preetz has held talks with Jurgen Klopp in a bid to secure the services of Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic for another year

“I’ll keep the ball rolling and our goal is to extend the loan by one year,” said Preetz, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

However, the Reds should try and cash in on the midfielder instead of sending him out on loan again next season.

Although it could be argued that another loan spell away from the club could help to develop the player, it seems like Grujic will always struggle to make an impact amongst the first team at Anfield.

Since his arrival from Red Star in 2016, the 23-year old has only appeared 14 times for the Reds, and has been loaned out three times including spells with former club Red Star, Cardiff City and most recently Hertha Berlin.

Although it seems like the German club have their sights set on a return to Germany next season for the midfielder, this may not be the most effective move in the eyes of Klopp, who definitely should be looking to cash in on the player.

Grujic is currently on £15,000-per week, (Source: Spotrac), which is arguably still way too much to be paying for a player who realistically has no chance of having a real future at the club.

This is especially the case when you consider the likes of Naby Keita can’t even makes themselves a guaranteed starter at Anfield.

So when you think about it Grujic is a waste of wage as it stands, as what’s the point in holding onto someone whose chances of breaking into the first-team look slim?

The midfielder will not be getting into Liverpool’s first team anytime soon, and should be shipped out of the club, and now could be the perfect time to do so after the successful season in which he has had over in Germany.
