It has been revealed that Naby Keita could be fit in time for Liverpool’s Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur in a few weeks time.

The 24-year old suffered a groin injury and is expected to be returning at the end of May, just before the Champions League final.

However, according to the Liverpool Echo, Keita could be back in contention for a place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven.

“He consulted his doctor in Switzerland, as I said at the beginning,” said the Guinea national coach, as reported by Foot 224.

“He is in treatment with his doctor.

“He started the bike and there [in Liverpool] it is said that he will maybe in two weeks to resume with the group. It is even possible that he is in the group for the Champions League final if what I have been told is true. We will see.”

Naby Keita will most definitely be a key player in the final for Liverpool should he be fit for the tie, and Reds’ fans will be happy to see that he seems to be making a speedy recovery.

The 24-year old has played six times in the Champions League this season, scoring one goal along the way, and Jurgen Klopp will no doubt be considering him for a place in the final after this recent injury update.

The Guinea international would be a huge miss for the Reds, and Klopp would struggle without his attributes in the side, especially in an attacking sense.

Keita will also be needed to help cope with the Spurs midfield, and his work ethic in the heart of the Liverpool team with surely be missed should he be proven unfit to play in the fixture.

Klopp would no doubt prefer to have Keita as an option going into the fixture, however may not risk further worsening his injury should he not be fully fit.

The central midfielder will be hoping to be back in contention for squad selection by June 1st, after missing out on the final two games of the Premier League season as a result of the groin injury picked up against Barcelona.
