Arsenal attacker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has heaped praise on Liverpool double act Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

The three players shared this season’s Premier League Golden Boot, and Aubameyang has now spoken of how much he respects the Reds forwards.

“It meant a lot to win the Golden Boot,” he told Arsenal’s official website. “I am really happy and proud of it, especially to share the trophy with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. I really like these two guys.

“We are representing Africa so it is a good sign for the continent. Africa is in my heart and in my mind, so I’m extremely proud to represent it in the Premier League.”

OPINION

Aubameyang is spot on, here. The three players have represented the continent of Africa tremendously, particularly this campaign where they outscored everyone else in the most competitive league in the world. It’s a great credit to Africa that it was three of their players who were the finest goalscorers in the Premier League this campaign. Aubameyang is obviously intensely proud of that fact and appreciative of his fellow Africans over at Anfield. It’s no surprise that the three players like each other and get on well. They all play football with a smile and love scoring goals, as we saw so many times this term. Obviously each one of them would have liked to have claimed the Golden Boot outright for themselves, but it probably stings a little bit less when you’re sharing it with two guys you get along well with. Clearly Aubameyang wasn’t too upset with the result, and it’s likely that neither of the Liverpool stars were either.
