Liverpool are looking to send midfielder Marko Grujic out on loan for a second successive season, according to Kicker.

The German outlet claims that the Reds are impressed with how much progress the 23-year-old made at Hertha Berlin this term and are keen for him to do the same next time out.

Ante ?ovi?’s team are thought to be keen to have the 6ft 3in Serbian international [Source: Transfermarkt] back in a blue shirt next campaign, but other clubs could also come in for the player.

However, talks between the Bundesliga side and Liverpool are scheduled for this week.

OPINION

This seems to be the right decision to make, doesn’t it? Grujic came on leaps and bounds in the German capital this season, but he is still not ready to be challenging for a first team spot at Anfield. That’s the downside of representing the European champions. However, there is clearly enough faith in him for the Reds to want to send him out on loan again so that he can continue his development. He’s a good player and he’s only going to get better in the years to come, but for that to happen he needs to be playing regular football. He’ll get that out on loan somewhere, but not on Merseyside at the moment. The decision for Liverpool now is whether to send him back to Hertha where he did so well, or to try to find him a slightly better team to see if he can make another step up. If Grujic wants to stay in the Bundesliga then perhaps a spell at one of their Europa League participants, like Borussia Monchengladbach or Wolfsburg, would do him good. That’s something for the Reds’ decision makers to think about.
