Three Premier League teams are interested in signing Liverpool playmaker Adam Lallana, according to Football Insider.

The outlet claims that a trio of top flight sides have made attempts to prise the England international, who is on a reported £110,000-per-week [Source: Spotrac], from the Reds’ grasp.

However, the 31-year-old has rejected their advances because he wants to remain at Anfield and see out the final year of his current contract.

The former Southampton man’s head has not been turned by this interest, and he is looking to win back a regular place in Jurgen Klopp’s team and secure himself an extension beyond the summer of 2020.

OPINION

So there are a few different tid-bits that need to be examined, here. Firstly, it’s pretty surprising that so many different teams are willing to make a move for Lallana considering his injury track record. The Englishman is an immensely talented footballer, but he simply hasn’t been able to stay fit since making the move to Anfield. Still, it seems that he will have plenty of suitors when he does eventually leave Liverpool. Secondly, the player himself obviously wants to stay where he is and fight for his place. Fair enough, that shows a good attitude and a lot of belief in himself. But, you have to say, his desire to earn himself a new contract on Merseyside is surely misguided. He’ll be 32 years of age when his deal runs out in a year’s time, while his reputation for being injury prone will do him no favours in attempting to secure fresh terms. So he may well want to extend his stay with the Reds, but that’s surely hugely unlikely.
