OPINION

Last season Liverpool were reportedly interested in signing Nabil Fekir, before the discovery of a knee injury cause the Reds to shut down any possible deal on medical grounds. Jurgen Klopp has admired the French international for many years and after a great season in Ligue 1, reports emerged that Liverpool had offered the 25-year-old a contract. Italian journalist Nicolo Schira revealed on his personal Twitter account that Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas would accept an offer of £44million after the Reds had offered Fekir a five-year deal.  Fekir was a mainstay for Lyon this season, scoring 12 and assisting nine goals in 39 appearances, as his knee injury came across as a distant memory. Liverpool fans reacted skeptically on Twitter to the news that their club had reportedly reignited their interest in the attacking midfield players, with one fan saying: “No way is Aulas getting 50 million if Fekir is in the final year of his contract”. Another fan simply claiming that his club would not pay that sort of money, “100% we are not paying 40million”.
