OPINION
Liverpool centre back Virgil van Dijk sent a message to the supporters on his personal Twitter account on Friday, summing up his feelings on what an exceptional season the Reds have just enjoyed. The Dutch international was clearly overjoyed to become a European champion with Jurgen Klopp’s team, something that he played a massive part in. There’s no doubt that without the arrival of Van Dijk from Southampton in January 2018, Liverpool would not have reached either of the Champions League finals they have competed in over the past two seasons – no matter winning this campaign’s edition of the tournament. The good thing for the Reds faithful, though, is that the player himself remains hungry to go on and achieve even more in the years to come. He’ll want to taste Premier League glory, which absolutely has to be the goal heading into next term. If he can help Liverpool to do just that then Van Dijk will become even more of a legend on Merseyside than he already is.
