OPINION
Some problems give football managers splitting headaches and turn their hair grey. A lack of funding in the transfer market, a spate of long term injuries perhaps – these things can be the difference between a good season and a bad one, and ultimately between a tidy pay cheque and unemployment. Other problems, however, are nicer, for want of a better word. Take Liverpool’s current situation with Ryan Kent. The young wide man made quite the impression with Rangers last season, developing wonderfully under Steven Gerrard’s tutelage, and coming away from his time north of the border with a Scottish PFA Young Player of the Year award for his efforts. Now he’s back, however, nobody really knows what to do with him. Clearly, there is potential there, and you fancy him to do a decent job for a mid table Premier League team, or anyone beneath that level, but whether he can break into Jurgen Klopp’s plans is another question entirely. And so the real conundrum is whether he should be loaned out for another year to see how he gets on, or whether the Reds should cash in now while his value is sky high after his spell at Ibrox. You’d be tempted to go with the latter, and that’s certainly the opinion of many Liverpool fans too.
