OPINION
Demarai Gray isn’t someone that most Liverpool fans would have been clamouring for before the Under-21 European Championships kicked off, but there are some supporters who now believe that the Leicester attacker would be a good signing for them this summer. Gray, 22, scored for England’s Under-21s in their shock 4-2 defeat to Romania on Friday so naturally there were bound to be fans on Twitter who were in awe of the ex-Birmingham player. However Gray is just not good enough for Liverpool. Last season he scored just four goals in 39 appearances across all competitions, and all those goals were against teams who had come up from the Championship or were battling against relegation. He doesn’t come close to Liverpool’s current wide-attackers and may even start to lose his place at Leicester if Harvey Barnes continues on his rise. Gray is an average player for a mid-table Premier League side. He’s only 22-years-old so is bound to improve, but will he improve to the point where he’s good enough for Liverpool? It’s unlikely.

Demari Gray is a player I would like at Liverpool – he’s a player with incredible talent. He’s a player who likes to drive at defenders. I think he would be a great addition. #LFC pic.twitter.com/9ID19Ov1Wh
