Mark Goldbridge shared he believes that Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has the potential to be top class after responding to a tweet about Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood.

The YouTuber, who is known as being the host of the United Stand (a show which has 504,000 subscribers), claimed that any real fan knows that Greenwood has the potential to be top class and there’s no need for rival fans to question it.

Goldbridge, who is a known Man United supporter, claimed there’s no need for petty digs between rival fans when a player’s potential is clear and named dropped Manchester City’s Phil Foden and the Reds’ Alexander-Arnold as rival players he believes could be top class.

“Any real fan knows he’s got the potential to be top class,” wrote Goldbridge via his personal Twitter account.

“No need for petty rivalry digs when it’s obvious Foden at City, TTA (TAA) at Liverpool and some of the Chelsea lads are on the same path too.”

OPINION

While Goldbridge likely feels he is being nice about a Liverpool player for once, putting Alexander-Arnold in the same category as Man United’s Greenwood does the Reds defender a disservice. The 20-year-old has played 55 times in the Premier League, already has six caps for England and is coming off a fantastic 2018/19 campaign where he helped the Reds lift the Champions League trophy. Alexander-Arnold registered 16 assists across the 40 outings he made in his latest campaign across all competitions and had the third-most assists in the Premier League in his 2018/19 campaign (Source: Premier League). In fact, Ryan Fraser and Eden Hazard were the only two players to register more assists than the Liverpool defender and considering Hazard was sold in a deal potentially worth more than £150million earlier this summer, it says a lot (Source: BBC). When you compare Alexander-Arnold’s exploits to the recent achievements of Man United’s Greenwood, you can see why they shouldn’t be spoken about in the same category yet. Greenwood has made a total of four Premier League appearances so far and is only capped for England at U-18s level.
