The 52-year-old’s current deal runs out in 2022 [Source: Transfermarkt] and would see him complete a seven-year-spell in Merseyside, something he has done at his two previous clubs, Borussia Dortmund and Mainz.

Klopp was speaking ahead of Liverpool’s first pre-season friendly in the USA, which will see them take on his former side, Dortmund, on Friday.

OPINION

This will be great news for Liverpool fans, who will be delighted at the fact they get to see Klopp commanding the touchline for three more years at Anfield. Klopp has been a revelation at the club and has quickly become a cult hero after transforming the Reds. After a few years of rebuilding, the German has built a formidable side that is capable of challenging for all silverware, as proved by their back-to-back Champions League finals. The 52-year-0ld has recently surpassed 200 games in charge of Liverpool (208) and holds the best point per game average out of all of the clubs he has managed with an impressive 1.97 [Transfermarkt]. Klopp is definitely staying for now, but should he build on last season where his side missed out on the title by a singular point, and win the Premier League, surely he would consider his future with not much left to accomplish at the Reds.
