Liverpool are not interested in signing Bordeaux forward Francois Kamano, according to Sud Ouest journalist Frederic Laharie.

The French reporter claimed via his personal Twitter account on Monday afternoon that there is “absolutely no interest” from Liverpool in the 23-year-old despite a report by Calcio Mercato saying that the Reds are ready to spend £13.4million on him this summer.

Kamano enjoyed a good season with Bordeaux last time out, scoring 13 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions for the Ligue 1 side.

OPINION

Is Jurgen Klopp going to do any major business before the transfer window closes next week? Harvey Elliott and Sepp van den Berg are the only two players that Liverpool have signed this summer and both of them are youngsters who are being viewed as potential stars of the future. While they might get some game-time in the first-team next season, they’re unlikely to oust any of Klopp’s current key players. It’s a surprise that Liverpool do not seem that keen on signing new players because the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno played a squad role last term and they may leave a bit of a void if key men suffer injuries or suspensions. Kamano is a forward who can play on both wings or up front as a striker. He mainly played on the left wing for Bordeaux last season and if he was available on the cheap, he might have been a solid back-up option. Klopp doesn’t seem at all interested in him though based on this latest update from France.
