Liverpool midfielder James Milner made a quip about teammate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s hair during pre-season training.
The 33-year-old Liverpool midfielder joked that his touch didn’t have as much bounce as Oxlade-Chamberlain’s hair and used the hashtags of his post to imply the England international must take ages to get ready.
“My touch didn’t have as much bounce as Ox’s hair today,” wrote Milner via his Instagram account.
Oxlade-Chamberlain responded to Milner’s quip to jokingly say there wasn’t much he could say to that as his barnet had exquisite volume.
“Yeah the volume on the Barnet was exquisite today I must say,” wrote the Liverpool midfielder via his verified Instagram account.

It seems Milner is ready to get the banter flying earlier on this season as he has wasted no time making a cheeky comment about Oxlade-Chamberlain’s hair; however, the 25-year-old went along with the joke and that shows the good rapport the two midfielders have. Oxlade-Chamberlain may have had big hair during training, but he should be focusing on having a big season in his 2019/20 campaign. The 25-year-old had an injury-hit 2018/19 campaign and only returned to action just before the season ended. Oxlade-Chamberlain featured just twice in the Premier League in his latest campaign, with his outings only totalling 19 minutes. While the injury was unavoidable, the midfielder will still be looking to prove himself to Jurgen Klopp as while he was on the sidelines the Reds had an impressive campaign. Liverpool finished 2nd in the Premier League, just a point behind Manchester City, and beat Tottenham to win the Champions League final. However, while Oxlade-Chamberlain has a big season ahead of him, he is more than capable of wowing.
