Premier League outfit Crystal Palace have held further talks with Liverpool over the potential signing of right back Nathaniel Clyne, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that the Eagles have made further attempts to seal a deal for the 28-year-old, who is on a reported £70,000-per-week at Anfield [Source: Spotrac].

Clyne himself is thought to be open to the move after losing his first team spot to phenom Trent Alexander-Arnold by way of a significant injury lay off.

The Eagles are seeking a replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who made a £50million move to Manchester United earlier this summer.

OPINION

This has been dragging on for a while now, hasn’t it? Everyone knows that Palace need a right back, and Clyne is likely to be available. He seemingly has no place in Jurgen Klopp’s plans moving forward, and was loaned out to Bournemouth for the second half of last season. Clearly he is open to a move away from Merseyside, with his former club Palace seeming like the most likely destination. Further talks have now been held on the matter, although the Mail’s report stops short of saying if any conclusion was reached during said talks. We know that Reds sporting director Michael Edwards will demand as much money as possible for any player Klopp wants to sell, so the negotiations likely won’t have gone entirely smoothly. However, this is a potential deal that would appear to suit all parties involved, so it should be one that gets over the line eventually.
