Liverpool are plotting to boost the price tag on the head of Ryan Kent by sending him out on loan again this summer, according to Football Insider.

The reputable football news outlet claim that Scottish giants Rangers are leading the charge to take the 22-year-old on a temporary deal once again after his time at Ibrox, with Leeds United said to be battling it out with the Glasgow side for a loan which will cost a seven-figure fee.

The report states that with no clubs willing to pay the £10-12million asking price to sign him permanently, Liverpool are set to send him out temporarily once again in a hope to significantly boost what they can demand, having impressed at Rangers last season.

It is stated Steven Gerrard’s side believe they are at the front of the queue for Kent’s capture, with a price of £1million-plus as well as additional penalties in case he does not play.

Opinion

Liverpool might well be hoping that another loan spell at Rangers could help them secure a hefty payday for Kent’s sale but is Scottish football really a test of his abilities? He has already dazzled north of the border, his six goals and nine assists helping him secure the PFA Scotland young player of the year award, so what else can he really prove with the Light Blues? If he really wants to show off his skills and if Liverpool want to get a decent price for him next summer, then he has got to be sent to an English side either at the top end of the Championship or even in the Premier League. Proving himself in either is the only way anyone is going to reach deep into their pockets and give the Reds the money they seemingly want to pick up for his capture. He might well enjoy playing in Scotland under Steven Gerrard but it is not the sort of test which is going to place a £15million-plus price tag on his head.
