Don Hutchison urged Liverpool to sign Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho on loan and claimed if they didn’t it would be a bad move for their Premier League title hopes.

The BBC pundit claimed it was an “absolute no brainer” of a decision for the Reds to make regarding the 27-year-old Brazilian as they needed more depth.

” Absolute no brainer for Liverpool to take Coutinho back on loan!!!!! Bad move for there title hopes if Liverpool don’t make that happen!!!
#NeedMoreDepth” wrote Hutchison on his personal Twitter account.

Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol previously stated while on Sky Sports News on Tuesday night [07:49pm] that the Reds didn’t want him back due to how he left the club in January 2018.

OPINION

Hutchison is being a bit dramatic, isn’t he? While the Reds’ chances of winning the Premier League title would be boosted if Coutinho arrived, he is a talented player, after all, if he doesn’t, it won’t necessarily mean Jurgen Klopp’s side won’t taste league glory in the coming season. The 27-year-old Brazilian has struggled at Barcelona since leaving Liverpool, he managed only 11 goals and five assists in his 50 outings last season, and would no doubt be eager to restore his reputation by returning to Anfield. Coutinho scored 54 goals while assisting 45, in 201 appearances for Liverpool and seemed to enjoy life in the Premier League. The 27-year-old appeared 152 times in the division, creating 52 big chances in the process while also playing 150 through balls to help spark the Reds’ attack into life, but the Reds need to move on (Source: Premier League). With the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana, the pair missed a lot of playing time last season due to injury, there’s no saying the pair couldn’t step up and boost the Reds’ title chances without a high-profile signing like Coutinho being made.
