Championship heavyweights Leeds United are likely to make a £7million bid for Liverpool starlet Ryan Kent in the next few days, according to Goal.

The outlet claims that the Whites are long-term admirers of the 22-year-old, and are ready to make a substantial offer to sign him permanently.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp admitted recently that the time for loans is over for Kent, after he enjoyed a Young Player of the Season campaign with Rangers last time out.

However, Marcelo Bielsa’s side will only be able to make their offer for the Englishman once attacker Kemar Roofe has made his anticipated move to Belgian side Anderlecht.

OPINION

This Kent situation is one that really needs to get resolved at this point. He’s clearly not in Klopp’s plans and so he needs to go out and get regular football again somewhere else, for the sake of his own career. The youngster is a talented player who is going to get better in the years to come, but the standard at Liverpool is so high these days that unless you’re projecting to become a world class player, it’s better for the club to offload you while they can get a meaty fee. That’s where we’re at with Kent at the moment, and a move to Leeds seems to be the most likely outcome at this point. Roofe seems to be closing in on a move to Belgium, which would present the Whites with the funds to bring Kent in. His old loan team Rangers likely won’t be able to compete with Leeds in a bidding war, meaning we can probably pencil Kent in to be playing his football at Elland Road next term.
