Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to deliver his verdict on Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson.

The Welsh international was on target for Bournemouth with a cracking free kick against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon, and Lineker was quick to sing the winger’s praises.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, the Match of the Day host said: “What a gorgeous free kick from Harry Wilson.”

OPINION

That Harry Wilson free kick was about as close as football can be to be to exhibition-worthy art. The way that he whips and curls it away from the despairing Ederson is genuinely world class. Ultimately, it meant very little in the context of Bournemouth’s defeat to the champions, but in terms of announcing himself on the Premier League scene, it could be huge for Wilson. That’s two in two for the youngster now, but more important than that has been the quality of his performances. He has now averaged 3.5 shots per game and a pass completion rate of 79.4% per game, as per Whoscored, and if he can keep up this kind of form over the course of the season then there is nothing to suggest that he can’t convince Jurgen Klopp of his worth as a long term option for Liverpool. A few more free kicks like his one on Sunday, and he will be impossible to ignore.
