Many Liverpool fans urged Jurgen Klopp to sign Pepe Reina after Simon Mignolet left the Reds to join Club Brugge on Sunday. The Belgian club confirmed via their official Twitter account that they had agreed a deal to sign Mignolet, and Reds fans were aware that this meant their club needed to sign a new No.2 shot-keeper before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday. With this in mind, many Liverpool fans made it clear that they wanted Reina to return to Anfield, with one even tweeting to tell Klopp to bring him home. The 36-year-old is currently at AC Milan where he kept three clean sheets in 12 appearances last season. Reina is behind Gianluigi Donnarumma in the pecking order and seems content at being a club’s No.2, so it makes sense why Liverpool fans are keen to see him return. The 36-year-old played 395 times for the Reds between 2005 and 2014, conceding 341 goals and keeping 177 clean sheets in the process. When you consider Reds’ current keeper Alisson is one of the most impressive shot-stoppers in the world, he won the Premier League’s Golden Glove last season, Klopp needs to sign someone who’ll be happy to sit on the bench and not kick up a fuss, so Reina surely ticks that box. Also the 36-year-old is experienced enough to be reliable during cup games, which he’ll likely play in if he joins, and he will no doubt be a good influence on the club’s youngsters.
