Jamie Redknapp shared he was expecting good things from Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster in the upcoming campaign with the 19-year-old likely to be a part of the first-team.

The former Reds midfielder briefly remarked on the young centre-forward while sharing his thoughts on the race for the Premier League title, but what he did say showed he had confidence in the player.

“It looks like Rhian Brewster, the 19-year-old English striker, who won the Under 17 World Cup previously, will form part of the first team this season,” wrote Redknapp in his club-by-club guide pullout for the Daily Mail (page 3, Saturday, August 3rd).

“We can expect good things from him.”

Redknapp didn’t choose to say he hoped Brewster would do well, but he shared he expected it, which is a reflection of how highly he rates him.

Therefore Redknapp’s confidence in the Liverpool teen will surely ease any worries that some may have about relying on him as he may end up being potential cover for players like Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

Given that Brewster is yet to make his debut in a competitive match for the Reds, there are some who likely believe that the Reds should be signing a proven forward this summer.

In fact, former Reds star Graeme Souness, via a Sky Sports interview, on Saturday claimed the Reds looked a little light up top following the exit of Daniel Sturridge, which implies he is completely ignorging the idea that a youngster like Brewster was capable.

The 19-year-old has been in decent form in pre-season as he has bagged four goals and he previously was in red-hot form for the club’s youth academy ahead of getting injured.

In his 2017/18 season, Brewster scored five goals, while assisting seven, in his 11 Premier League 2 appearances, and it’s worth noting he was the golden boot winner at the U-17 World Cup in 2017.

It’s been said before that you can’t teach someone how to be a natural goalscorer, and it’s clear Brewster has all the right instincts in front of goal.

Redknapp seems to have been made aware of this and hopefully, his faith in Brewster will ease any concerns that may lurk around Anfield.
