Alan Brazil implied that he believes Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has more ability than Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.
The talkSPORT host was discussing that fact that the Man United midfielder didn’t get the captain’s armband against Rochdale in midweek, and opted to use Jordan Henderson to make his point.
Brazil suggested that while he thought the Man United midfielder was talented, more so than the Liverpool star, he wasn’t captain material like Henderson was.
“I was going to say Jordan Henderson would not have the ability that Pogba’s got…but (McCoist states but he’s captain material) yeah correct,” said Brazil as seen in a clip on talkSPORT.

While most would rate Pogba above Henderson when it comes to ability, it did seem harsh to drag the Liverpool captain into the debate. The 29-year-old, who currently earns £140,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac), is a talented midfielder who has plenty of ability and just focusing on his leadership qualities does him a disservice. Henderson does a lot of dirty work for Jurgen Klopp’s side in midfield in order to keep them ticking over and if he played in a more attacking role he’d surely get more credit for how good he is. The 29-year-old has averaged two tackles per game across his four Premier League outings this season and it’s clear his defensive duties are his priority as he has been only able to average 0.6 shots per game as well as 0.4 key passes (Source: WhoScored). When Henderson is absence from the team, he is noticeably missed more often than not, and if that’s telling how important he is, then what is?
