Jordan Henderson has told James Maddison on Instagram that he is happy about Liverpool’s current position in the Premier League standings after a strong start to the season.

Leicester star Maddison posted an image of himself, Raheem Sterling and a very happy-looking Henderson in England training this week, asking why the former Sunderland midfielder is looking so happy.

Henderson took to his personal Instagram account on Tuesday to respond to Maddison’s posts by saying: “You know what I’m happy with.”

The Liverpool captain then added in an emoji saying ‘top’.

OPINION

Henderson has every right to be smiling. He is captain of the reigning European champions, who now sit top of the Premier League table after enjoying a 100 per cent start. It will also make Liverpool fans smile to see the central midfielder looking so thrilled while next to Manchester City’s Sterling. England have a good couple of fixtures to kick off their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign over the coming days. Gareth Southgate’s side take on Bulgaria at Wembley on Saturday before a first-ever match against Kosovo. England’s qualifying group looks, on paper, very simple and it would be a bit of a surprise if they did not win every single game. Getting off to a good start and qualifying early could help Liverpool in the long-term as they have players like Henderson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez in the squad. If qualification is in the bag early, Southgate could end up resting players like that, which could benefit the Reds.
