Chris Sutton blasted Robbie Savage for predicting Liverpool to win the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City this season.
The outspoken pundit was amused at being asked by Savage who would win the English league title this season out of Man City and Liverpool before pointing out that Savage had already changed his mind this season.
Sutton claimed that Savage was weak and pathetic for now backing Liverpool to win the Premier League, and made it clear he still thought Pep Guardiola’s side were set to win another league title.
“Haha, you’ve wrote City off haven’t you? At the start of the season, you said City, then you change, when Liverpool lose, are you going to go back to City?” said Sutton on BT Sport’s Early Kick-Off (BT Sport 1, Saturday, September 21st, 10:42am).
“You’re so weak, Man City, you’re pathetic!”

Savage will look foolish if he ends up changing his mind again and predicting Man City to win the league title if the Reds start to drop points, but he is entitled to switch allegiances. The former Premier League midfielder likely backed Guardiola’s side to win another Premier League title ahead of the 2019/20 campaign getting underway, but after seeing both sides in action, believes Jurgen Klopp’s side will have the edge. This is no surprise as the Reds currently sit five points clear at the top of the table ahead of playing Chelsea on Sunday, and don’t show any sign of slowing down. While Liverpool’s Champions League campaign didn’t get off to the best start in midweek, they’ve shown they’re capable of carving out results in the Premier League even after early setbacks. For example, Klopp’s team had to come from behind against Newcastle in order to win 3-1 last weekend and that result showed how much character the Reds’ current squad have.
