Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has revealed he is closing in on a return to full fitness after picking up an injury.

The Brazilian international has been missing since the opening day 4-1 victory over Norwich City, where he pulled up with a calf injury midway through the first-half at Anfield.

Alisson shared the news that he is closing in on his return to action in an interview on the club’s official website that he is feeling positive after recently taking part in training at Melwood.

“I’m on a good way, I think we are nearly there,” he said.

“I can go outside to the pitch to do some goalkeeper work and I feel very well. I feel confident and I think now it’s just about getting all my power, all my confidence to come back and do what I love to do.”

Adrian has deputised in goal since Alisson’s injury and has only managed to keep one clean-sheet despite impressing for the Reds.

OPINION

This is definitely the news that all Liverpool fans were waiting to hear regarding their marquee stopper. Alisson has recently cemented his crown as the world’s best goalkeeper, picking up the FIFA Best award in Milan after he picked up the Golden Glove award in the Premier League, the Champions League, and the Copa America. Adrian has been in great form during the Brazilian’s absence but is more than certain to be placed on the bench once he returns. The Spaniard has only kept one clean-sheet, not as impressive as Alisson who kept more than 20 clean-sheets in the Premier League. The former Roma stopper is definitely one of the Reds’ standout players and he is set to boost Liverpool with his return and strengthen them – even though they are the only team left with a perfect record so far in the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp will be counting down the days, with the Reds closing in on having their full-strength side available to them once more.
