Adrian Durham shared that he thought Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers will be confident that his side can get a positive result against Liverpool after their display against Red Bull Salzburg.

The talkSPORT host revealed that Rodgers will feel confident that his Leicester City squad contains players who can cause Liverpool massive problems when the two Premier League side clash on Saturday.

Durham stated what he thought Rodgers would have been thinking after Liverpool’s latest display before claiming that Jurgen Klopp’s side showed signs of weakness during their 4-3 win over Salzburg.

“Last night I think there were signs,” said Durham on talkSPORT (16:09pm, Thursday, October 3rd).

“If I’m Brendan Rodgers and I was watching last night, Liverpool face Leicester City live on GameDay this weekend, I’m there, if I was Brendan Rodgers, I’d be thinking I’ve got the players who could cause Liverpool a massive problem.

“And he’ll be motivated to do that as well.

“There are shortcomings in the Liverpool system, they’re full-backs are so far forward, it’s almost like they’ve forgotten how to defend.”

OPINION

Durham doesn’t directly predict Leicester City to beat Liverpool, but he certainly hints that he believes the Foxes are more than capable of ending the Reds’ 100% start to the season in the Premier League. The broadcaster uses Liverpool’s display against Salzburg as the reason why the Foxes will feel they have a chance on Saturday, but surely the Reds’ display against Sheffield United last weekend was more a sign that Liverpool may not be able to keep racking up win after win. While Salzburg came from three goals behind to cause Liverpool to sweat on Wednesday as soon as they got back on level terms, Klopp’s team upped their performance and got the win. It may not have been great to see the Reds be so complacent and drop the ball during a match, but it didn’t make you question how good Liverpool are, if anything it just further proved they have a lot of game-changing talent to count on if needs be. However when you consider Liverpool’s winning goal against Sheffield United was a result of Dean Henderson making a blunder and that the Reds only hit the target four times during that match, as per WhoScored, then surely the Foxes would have fancied their chances following that display more.
