Heskey praises Firmino

|

Emile Heskey has hailed Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino, claiming that he is the “most intelligent” striker in the Premier League.

The ex-Kop ace was asked to name the best five hitmen in the top flight by talkSPORT, and while he may have put the £180,000-a-week Brazilian [Spotrac] second to Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, he did pick out one area in which he is unparalleled.

Speaking to the station, he said: “Probably the most intelligent out of the lot of them.

“He links everything up so well.

“His brain, he’s always working looking at where others are, not just for himself.”

OPINION

The plaudits continue to come thick and fast for Firmino, and deservedly so. The Brazilian has been absolutely superb for the Reds so far this season, and he continues to operate at a consistently high level. He already has three goals and six assists in the Premier League and Champions League combined this season, as per Whoscored, and he is averaging 2.6 shots, 1.6 key passes, and 1.9 successful dribbles per game, as per well as a match rating of 7.56 makes him the sixth highest rated player in the Premier League so far this season. As Heskey states, what really sets him apart is his willingness to work for those around him, without losing any of his potency in from top goal. In that respect, he is a unique talent, and one who has really established himself as a world class talent.
