COMMENTARY

Liverpool may have beaten Leicester City 2-1 on Saturday but it seems a number of Reds supporters weren’t in a joyous mood despite the positive result as several opted to rip apart midfielder James Milner for his display during the club’s latest victory. One Liverpool fan claimed Milner submitted a “shocking” performance, while another supporter was willing to go on strike until the veteran no longer played for Jurgen Klopp’s side. When you consider that the 33-year-old showed nerves of steel to step up and convert the match-winning penalty in added time, it’s clear the criticism he got was a little harsh, to say the least. While Milner may not be the most exciting player to watch at times, he does a valuable job for Klopp’s team in the middle of the park and his experience is an asset especially during tough games like the one against the Foxes. The 33-year-old constantly ensured he got on the ball for his side, he touched it 70 touches (Source: WhoScored), and while only one of his three efforts on goal hit the target that doesn’t mean he should be slammed for his performance.
