Liverpool are ready to cash in on midfielder Herbie Kane and will listen to offers for the midfielder in January, according to Football Insider.

The reliable news outlet claims that there are doubts about whether Kane, 20, has the ability to be able to step up from the Under-23s and into the first-team.

Jurgen Klopp handed the central midfielder his senior debut for Liverpool last month when he came off the bench in the Carabao Cup win against MK Dons.

However it would seem as though there are worries about whether he can regularly break into the first-team and that means the England youth international is available for a permanent exit once the transfer window re-opens in January.

OPINION

It is a shame for Kane that he is not seen as someone who will make it at Liverpool, but many would have predicted this really. Kane turns 21 next month but has only ever made one senior appearance for the Reds, and that came this season. He has also only had one season out on loan when he played in League One, appearing 49 times across all competitions for Doncaster Rovers. Kane did do well at the Yorkshire club but not well enough to attract enough interest from elsewhere in the summer that has just gone. Kane needed a step up in the summer so he needed to go on loan to a Championship side, rather than spend another season in the Under-23s playing in Premier League 2. If that had happened and he did well in the second tier then who knows? Maybe he would have had a better shot of playing in Klopp’s senior squad on a regular basis. Unfortunately that is not the case and Kane’s days at Anfield now appear to be numbered based on this report.
