Danny Murphy has hailed Liverpool winger Sadio Mane, suggesting that he has “become better” than the pundit ever thought he could.

The 61 cap Senegalese international has already hit eight goals in all competitions so far this season, and Murphy has been quick to praise his progress as an all-round talent.

Writing in a column for the Daily Mail, he said: “Sadio Mane has been Liverpool’s best player this season and probably the best in the Premier League.

“He has become better than I ever thought he would, offensively and defensively.”

OPINION

Ever since signing for the Reds, Sadio Mane has slowly but surely established himself as one of the finest players in Jurgen Klopp’s arsenal, and there can be little argument against the fact the he is now an elite attacking talent who ranks amongst the best in the world. So far this season he has averaged 2.3 shots per game in the Premier League, as per Whoscored, as well as 1.9 key passes and 1.9 successful dribbles. Factor in a match rating of 7.53 in the league, the tenth highest in the division, plus eight goals in 11 outings in all competitions, and it’s evident that he truly is a top tier performer. Don’t be surprised to see him right up there when it comes to handing out accolades at the end of the season. What a player.
