Liverpool’s front three have yet to properly find their rhythm so far this season, but when they do somebody will be in for a “really big hiding”, according to former Kop defender Nick Tanner.

Between them, Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane have 12 goals between them in the Premier League so far this season, but Tanner believes that they still have more to offer.

Speaking on Love Sport Radio, he said: “That’s the thing, when they’re all on song. At the moment, they’re not.

“Somebody’s going to take a really big hiding soon when they all start firing.

“At the moment, it’s like one of them is playing well and the other two aren’t, not all together. But the signs are it’s coming back.”

OPINION

This seems like a bit of strange comment from Tanner, if we’re being honest. Aside from 12 goals, the Reds’ fearsome trio have also managed seven assists, as well as averaging 8.5 shots per game in the league between them, five key passes, and 5.1 successful dribbles, as per Whoscored. It may well be that they haven’t all been on top form at exactly the same time, but it’s hard to argue with how effective those stats are, or for that matter how ruthless the Reds have been so far this season. They may not have been hammering sides, but they have invariably been winning matches, and that should be enough to keep fans and pundits satisfied until a real drubbing is handed out.
