Harry Redknapp was impressed by Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane after being told he had scored his 50th Premier League goal for the Reds against Leicester City.

Jeff Brazier told the former Premier League manager that Mane’s goal against the Foxes meant that he had managed to score 50 goals in 100 league appearances the Reds.

Redknapp responded by uttering one-word “amazing” before focusing back on the Premier League game he was meant to be watching.

“Amazing,” said Redknapp on BT Sport Score (BT Sport 1, Saturday, October 5th).

OPINION

It took Redknapp only one-word to share how impressive Mane’s goalscoring record for Liverpool was, and there’s not much more to say about it. Given that 50 goals in 100 appearances means that the Reds forward scores a goal every other game in the league, how can anyone question his talent or not be impressed? The 27-year-old has been an integral part of  Jurgen Klopp’s side ever since arriving at Anfield and you feel the reason why Liverpool went so close to the Premier League title last season and will likely at least go close again in the current campaign is because Mane can be counted on to deliver the goals. Mane has already scored six goals this season in his first 10 outings of the season and worryingly for his opponents could have potentially had more. After all the attacker is a constant thorn in his opponents’ sides, he has averaged 2.2 shots per game this season (Source: WhoScored), and notably missed a few golden chances when having an off-day in the 1-0 win over Sheffield United last weekend. Hopefully, Mane is able to keep his red-hot form up and avoid injury as it’s clear he is going to be key to Klopp getting his hands on some more silverware.
