Daniel Sturridge shared a picture with former Liverpool teammate Martin Skrtel after they faced-off in Trabzonspor’s 2-2 draw with Istanbul Basaksehir.

The ex-Reds forward revealed that it was good to see Skrtel on Monday as the pair have some good memories together from their time at Anfield.

“Good to see my bro yesterday,” wrote Sturridge, via his verified Instagram account.

“Shared some good memories with this guy at LFC. Tried to banter with him on the pitch to put him off and he wasn’t having It.”

Sturridge claimed Skrtel didn’t respond to his banter on Monday, but the centre-back ended up replying to Sturridge’s Instagram post with a cheeky six-word message.

“Been focusing on ur movements brother,” wrote Skrtel, via his personal Instagram account.

OPINION

Both Skrtel and Sturridge will be fondly remembered at Liverpool as they had long, successful stints at the club. Skrtel played 320 times for the Reds, winning the League Cup in the process, while Sturridge scored an impressive 68 goals in 160 appearances and he likely would have featured more if his luck with injury wasn’t non-existent. So Liverpool fans know doubt will appreciate this trip down memory lane with Sturridge sharing a picture of two, also it’s always intriguing to see how a player fares, especially in the case of Sturridge. This is because the English forward only left in the summer, and it was a big decision by the club to let him go, as he clearly is a talented player when fit, it’s just him being fit isn’t a guarantee. The 30-year-old scored two goals and registered one assist in the 18 Premier League games he featured in, which isn’t too shabby when you consider 14 of those outing saw him start on the bench (Source: WhoScored).  The experienced attacker’s spell at Trabzonspor does seem to be going well as he at the very least has been clinical as well as lively in games, as not only has he averaged 1.4 shots per game, but he has racked up two goals in his first five league appearances for the Turkish club.
