AC Milan have entered the race with Liverpool and Manchester United to sign Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian outlet claim on their website that the Serie A giants view Rugani as an experienced option to bolster the defensive options of manager Stefano Pioli.

Calciomercato report that an offer in the region of £20million would be enough to tempt Juventus into selling the defender in the future.

It is suggested that despite the 25-year-old signing a new contract until 2023 and being tipped for big things at the Allianz Stadium, his time could be coming to an end at the club in the near future.

OPINION

Given the recent rise to form of Joel Matip, surely Liverpool won’t be too disappointed if they weren’t able to secure a move for Rugani either in January or the summer. The Cameroon enforcer has been phenomenal in the past couple of seasons, and recently signed a new long-term deal to represent his worth to the Reds at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp will be happy having both Dejan Lovren and Sepp van den Berg as back up options in the background on top of that. Manchester United and AC Milan are both in need of central defenders more than Liverpool, and it would be no surprise to see them push hard than the Premier League leaders for the 25-year-old. Rugani has yet to feature in a competitive fixture for Juventus this season, so everything is pointing towards an exit from the club, and the Italian international will need to prepare for a bidding war for his services, just don’t expect Liverpool to be leading that hunt when the time comes.
