Alan Hutton has claimed that Rangers have been blown away by loaned-out Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo this season.

The former Scotland international heaped praise on the 22-year-old, who he believes has massively impressed since making the temporary move to Ibrox in the summer.

Rangers’ staff have already held talks regarding the future of the Reds’ starlet [Football Insider], and are eager to turn his stay into a permanent one at the end of this season, and Hutton admits that is reflective of his start to life in Scotland.

“If you’re discussing things like that, it can only be a positive,” he told Football Insider.

“Gerrard would have known him from Liverpool, he’ll know what his attributes are and what he’s capable of. He’s come in, done really well, is really direct and causing full-backs problems.”

“Me being a full-back, that’s the one thing that’s difficult, when you’ve got someone with pace that’s very direct, it’s hard to stop, especially when they’re relentless.”

The 22-year-old is currently on his fifth loan spell away from Anfield, after being at Reims, Fulham, Wolves, and Wigan previously.

OPINION

Should Ojo be shining just like Hutton predicts he is in training, surely Steven Gerrard would be eager to make that move permanent. The ball would be in Ojo’s court given his future over the next year, something that will leave him with a decision to make. The 22-year-old would surely struggle to make any sort of impact at Anfield past this season, and Jurgen Klopp should be happy to sanction an exit for the youngster. Ojo may have been relentless in his efforts for the Light Blues, but he hasn’t exactly been free-scoring in the final third. His two goals in 10 games simply aren’t enough, and proof that Liverpool wouldn’t be missing much should they make the decision to allow Ojo to make his switch permanent at the end of the season. Ojo is finding himself in a similar net to the one which Ryan Kent was in last season, and we all know how that ended up, and history may repeat itself next year.
