OPINION

Out of all things to expect on a Wednesday, Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold picking up a Guinness World Record wasn’t one of those things. The Reds’ defender has been phenomenal in the past year at right-back and was handed the award for delivering the most assists by a defender in a single campaign last season. The 21-year-old delivered 12 assists last season and has already got two to his name in this campaign in only eight games. The Liverpool star has already averaged 3.5 key passes per game according to WhoScored, very impressive numbers for a right-back who is given the license to push on and add an extra dimension in the final third. Everyone remembers the famous assist in the Champions League against Barcelona, something that has become a trademark in the star’s game, and something Liverpool fans aren’t surprised to see when he delivers yet another one. Alexander-Arnold posted a message on his personal Twitter account with a photo of him holding the record. Many Liverpool fans responded and were blown away by their young star, drowning him with praise for his accolade.
