Charlie Nicholas has predicted that Liverpool will stroll to victory over Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday.

The Sky Sports pundit has backed the Reds to win 3-0, in what he assumes will be a great game in Merseyside for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Nicholas did heap praise on Spurs for the way that they bounced back from disappointment in the Champions League recently with a 5-0 win over Crvena Zvezda but questioned whether they would be able to do that once again.

“This is a cracking game,” he wrote in his Sky Sports prediction column.

“Tottenham bounced back in the Champions League, getting a lot of anger out of their system.

“Although, I do not see past a Liverpool win and they will continue to roll along with Mohamed Salah back in the side, who scored in the week against Genk.”

Nicholas did question whether or not Mauricio Pochettino will utilise Toby Alderweireld after resting him in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

OPINION

Given the contrasting start to the season by Sunday’s visitors, it is no surprise to see Nicholas back Liverpool heavily. Spurs have not exactly been in the best run of form, and Tuesday’s win in Europe only papered over some of the real cracks starting to appear throughout their side, and the Reds must take advantage of that at Anfield. Tottenham’s last two away games only prove how poor they have been, losing against League Two Colchester in the Carabao Cup, and then being dismantled by Brighton on the South coast. Liverpool, on the other hand, also go into the game on the back of a cracking victory away to Genk, and will have the benefit of a full-strength side available to them after Salah returned to the team brilliantly with a goal. It is hard to look past Liverpool in this one, and Nicholas is spot on with his verdict that it could be a long afternoon for the travelling side when they travel to the table-toppers.
